Practice servant leadership. Jesus modeled this when he washed his disciples’ feet, saying “whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant” (Mark 10:43). Today, look for one practical way to serve someone on your team—maybe help with a task they’re overwhelmed by, publicly credit their work, or simply listen without trying to fix everything. Leadership isn’t about being served but about elevating others.
Speak words that build up rather than tear down. Proverbs 18:21 says “the tongue has the power of life and death.” Be intentional today about encouraging at least one person specifically and genuinely. Tell them what you appreciate about their contribution or character. Avoid criticism that doesn’t come with support, and when correction is needed, do it privately with the goal of restoration rather than condemnation.
Lead with integrity when no one’s watching. Proverbs 11:3 reminds us that “the integrity of the upright guides them.” Make one decision today—even a small one—based purely on what’s right rather than what’s easy or beneficial to you. This could be admitting a mistake, following through on a commitment you’d rather skip, or being honest when a small exaggeration would go unnoticed. Character is built in these quiet moments.
The beautiful thing about these principles is they’re immediately actionable and compound over time. Small acts of service, encouragement, and integrity today build the kind of leader people want to follow tomorrow.
